LISTSERV: March Updates

  • Thanks again to all speakers, moderators and attendees of our Second Annual Renewable Energy Secure Communities (RESCO) Experts Symposium at UC Davis, February 22-23, 2011. The proceedings can be found at: http://cal-ires.ucdavis.edu/events/2011-resco-symposium. They include a summary of highlights of the entire event prepared by Cal-IRES Associates. Feedback on the event has been generally positive and enthusiastic, suggesting strong interest in continuing the RESCO Symposium series.

  • UC Energy Week at UC Davis April 4-April 7, 2011, is rapidly approaching, and we hope you will be able to attend some or all of the events planned: http://energy.ucdavis.edu/events/#annual. The Second Annual Cal-IRES Forum, held on Monday, April 4, will feature welcoming remarks by UC Davis Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi and Bryan Jenkins, Director, UC Davis Energy Institute. The centerpiece will be a report by the California Council for Science and Technology on the topic of California’s Renewable Energy Future. Later sessions will include a policy roundtable reflecting on the study results and afternoon sessions to identify and hear industry views regarding strategic research to enable California’s renewable energy future.

As we did for the RESCO Experts Forum, we have created a Cal-IRES Forum event page, where we post all the speaker bios and photos when received, updated agenda as changes occur, other specific information for our Forum, and eventually the proceedings. Please take a look at this page before proceeding to the registration link: http://cal-ires.ucdavis.edu/events/2011-cal-ires-forum/

If you plan to attend, we recommend that you register now, as interest is strong, space is limited, and costs increase after March 25.

  • We’re pleased to announce two additions to the Cal-IRES advisory board, i.e. Faramarz Maghsoodlou, Director of Smart Grid Solutions at Cisco Systems and George Simons, Director of Itron's Renewable and Distributed Generation Consulting Services. Matt Lecar, Principal, Smart Grid Strategy, General Electric International, has agreed to serve as our Advisory Board Chair. http://cal-ires.ucdavis.edu/about/advisors/. We thank them for their participation and welcome their perspective as we chart our course for future renewable energy integration programs.
